Polycarbonate (PC) sheets are widely used in construction and other industries due to their high strength, light weight and good light transmittance. However, over time, especially when exposed to ultraviolet (UV), temperature changes, moisture and chemicals for a long time, PC sheets may show aging phenomena such as yellowing, brittleness, surface powdering, etc. In order to extend the service life of PC sheets and maintain their performance, the following anti-aging measures can be taken:
1. Add UV stabilizers:
UV absorbers or shielding agents are added during the production process to reduce the impact of UV rays on the material, thereby delaying the aging process.
2. Coating protection:
Apply a layer of weather-resistant coating or lamination to protect the surface of the PC sheet from environmental factors. This layer of protection can be a hard coating or a film with UV protection function.
3. Proper installation and maintenance:
Ensure that the PC sheet is properly installed according to the manufacturer's instructions to avoid physical damage during installation.
Clean the sheet regularly, use mild soapy water to wash, and do not use detergents containing solvents or other agents that may corrode the sheet.
Avoid walking on the board or applying excessive pressure to avoid irreversible damage.
4. Choose the right color and thickness:
Some colors of PC boards are more resistant to aging than others. Generally speaking, darker colors may absorb more heat and accelerate the aging process.
Thicker boards may be more resistant to mechanical damage and environmental influences than thin boards.
5. Ventilation and heat dissipation:
Ensuring good air circulation around the board helps prevent aging caused by excessive temperature.
6. Avoid contact with harmful chemicals:
Try to avoid direct contact of PC boards with oils, organic solvents, strong acids and alkalis, and other chemicals that may corrode them.
The above methods can greatly improve the anti-aging ability of PC boards and ensure their long-term performance stability. If aging problems have already occurred, you need to consider repairing or replacing new boards according to the specific situation.
