How to distinguish between PC solid sheets, acrylic, and PS organic sheet?
The most popular plastic sheets on the market currently are: organic glass sheets pc、PS， These types of sheets are very similar, and compared to the same color, it is difficult to distinguish which boards they are. Next, let's talk about their differences.
Characteristics of organic glass (acrylic).
It has excellent transparency, able to transmit over 92% of sunlight and 73.5% of ultraviolet light; High mechanical strength, with certain heat and cold resistance, corrosion resistance, good insulation performance, stable size, easy to form, brittle texture, soluble in organic solvents, insufficient surface hardness, easy to rub, can be used as transparent structural components with certain strength requirements. At present, this material is widely used in advertising light boxes, advertising display supplies, furniture supplies, hotel supplies, bathrooms, and so on.
PC solid sheets and PC hollow sheets are processed from high-performance engineering plastic - polycarbonate (PC) resin.
Its characteristics:
(1) Transmittance: The highest transmittance of PC solid sheets can reach 89%, which is comparable to glass. UV coated boards will not produce yellowing, fogging, or poor light transmission when exposed to sunlight. After ten years, the loss of light transmission is only 6%, while the loss rate of PVC is as high as 15% -20%, and that of glass fiber is 12% -20%.
(2) Impact resistance: The impact strength is 250-300 times that of ordinary glass, 30 times that of acrylic sheets of the same thickness, and 2-20 times that of tempered glass. Even if dropped below two meters with a 3kg hammer, there will be no cracks.
(3) UV protection: One side of the PC board is coated with a UV resistant layer, and the other side is treated with anti condensation, combining UV resistance, heat insulation, and anti drip functions.
(4) Lightweight: With a specific gravity only half that of glass, it saves on transportation, unloading, installation, and supporting frame costs.
(5) Flame retardant: According to the national standard GB50222-95, PC solid sheets are classified as Class B1 flame retardant. The ignition point of the PC solid sheets itself is 580 ℃, and it will self extinguish after leaving the fire. When burning, it will not produce toxic gases and will not promote the spread of fire.
(6) Flexibility: According to the design drawings, cold bending can be used on the construction site to install arched, semi-circular roofs and windows. The minimum bending radius is 175 times the thickness of the sheet, and it can also be hot bent.
(7) Soundproofing: The sound insulation effect of PC solid sheet is significant, with better sound insulation than glass and acrylic sheets of the same thickness. Under the same thickness conditions, the sound insulation of PC sheet is 3-4dB higher than that of glass.
(8) Energy saving: Cooling in summer and insulation in winter. PC solid sheet has a lower thermal conductivity (K value) than ordinary glass and other plastics, and its insulation effect is 7% -25% higher than that of equivalent glass. The insulation of PC solid sheet can reach up to 49%.
(9) Temperature adaptability: The PC solid sheet does not undergo cold brittleness at -40 ℃, does not soften at 125 ℃, and its mechanical properties do not show significant changes in harsh environments.
(10) Weather resistance: PC solid sheets can maintain the stability of various physical indicators within the range of -40 ℃ to 120 ℃. After 4000 hours of artificial climate aging test, the yellowing degree was 2 and the decrease in transmittance was only 0.6%.
(11) Anti condensation: When the outdoor temperature is 0 ℃, the indoor temperature is 23 ℃, and the indoor relative humidity is below 80%, the inner surface of the material will not condense.
PC solid sheet usage:
Suitable for interior and exterior decoration of commercial buildings, curtain walls of modern urban buildings; Transparent aviation containers, motorcycle windshields, airplanes, trains, ships, cars, motorboats, and glass military and police shields; The layout of telephone booths, billboards, lightbox advertisements, and exhibition displays; Instruments, panels, and military industries, etc; High end interior decoration materials such as walls, ceilings, and screens; Suitable for noise barriers on highways and elevated roads; Agricultural greenhouses and breeding greenhouses; Car shed, rain shelter; Lighting ceilings for public facilities, etc.

Its characteristics:
(1) High transparency, with transparency reaching over 89%. The hardness is average.
(2) The surface gloss is average.
(3) The processing performance is average, suitable for mechanical processing but prone to hot bending, not suitable for screen printing and laser engraving. At present, this material is widely used in advertising lightboxes and display products. But the effect is worse than acrylic.
Here are several identification methods:
Firstly, organic glass (acrylic) is divided into extruded sheet and cast sheet.
Identification of extruded boards: with good transparency, using the most primitive identification methods, the flame is clear during combustion, there is no smoke, there are bubbles, and long filaments can be pulled out when extinguishing the fire.
Identification of casting board: higher transparency, no smoke, bubbles, and squeaking sound when burned with fire, no silk when extinguishing the fire.
Secondly, PC solid sheets: high transparency, good impact resistance, unable to break, basically unable to burn with fire, flame retardant, and may emit some black smoke.
Thirdly, PS organic sheet: The transparency is average, but there may be some spots when reflecting light. Relatively brittle and prone to breakage. There will be a clicking sound when it hits the ground. When burning with fire, a large amount of black smoke will be produced.
