Product Description
Line bending, also known as score bending or snap bending, is a common technique used to create sharp, 90-degree bends in polycarbonate sheets or panels. This method is useful for fabricating components like enclosures, frames, and housings from flat PC sheets.
To line bend polycarbonate:
Measure and mark the desired bend line on the panel. Use a straightedge to ensure a clean, straight line.
Clamp the panel securely in place, with the bend line protruding over the edge of the work surface. This allows you to apply heat from underneath.
Use a specialty hot air tool or heat gun to apply heat along the bend line. Move the heat source slowly and continuously along the line, maintaining an even temperature.
Once the polycarbonate becomes pliable, gently bend the panel along the heated line to create the 90-degree angle. Apply even pressure across the bend.
Hold the bent panel in place until it cools completely, which helps set the new shape.
For a clean, professional look, you can sand or file the bent edge once cooled.
